Brief description:

PMA runs a thriving arts programme, raising awareness and challenging stigma in East Glasgow. Anyone can take part in the free arts sessions.

The weekly visual arts group, led by a professional arts worker, often produce work for exhibitions and events both in the community and further a-field.

Aims:

To engage the local community through visual arts, getting people thinking and talking about mental health.

What’s happening:

The groups are a safe and supportive environment for people to try out artistic skills and techniques, whilst learning to express themselves creatively.

Visual arts participants contribute to driving ‘HeadSpace’ forward – East Glasgow’s contribution to the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival. Artwork has also been exhibited at Gallery of Modern Art, Ramshorn Theatre and Platform.

All the arts participants are helping to create and develop a facebook group online to share artwork, poetry and stories.
