Brief description:
PMA, along with key partners, developed a survey in 2009 for residents from Sandyhills High Flats in East Glasgow.
Aims:
The programme was developed to find out how residents feel about living in the area and raise any issues that may impact on community mental health and well-being, with a view to inform decision makers about how things could be improved.
What’s happening:
Local residents were invited to share their views about living in the area and raise any issues that may impact on community mental health and well being. An action plan was developed to address the issues raised during the consultation and the results are being used to inform local agencies about what they can do to improve community mental health and well being.
Evaluation and feedback:
The concierge service was viewed as one of the most positive aspects about living in Sandyhills High Flats. Since the consultation some changes have been made to the management of the concierge services across East Glasgow.
The Concierge Manager Charlie McKay says:
“Over the last three years this community has discovered the community spirit again. The Community & Learning Centre provides activities all year round and the work of the Concierge staff has gone a long way in helping to bring people from all nationalities together as one community.”
There is currently a small steering group working with other partners such as Strathclyde Police, Culture and Sport Glasgow and John Wheatley College to address the issues raised in the consultation.
