Brief description:
PMA runs a thriving arts programme, raising awareness and challenging stigma in East Glasgow. Anyone can take part in the free arts sessions.
The Mixed Company Drama Group offers workshops to people in East Glasgow to learn new drama techniques as well as develop both issue based and performance based pieces. The group is facilitated by a professional drama worker and their talents are often showcased through performance, highlighting broad mental health issues to eager audiences in East Glasgow and beyond.
Aims:
To engage the local community through participating in and/or attending drama, getting people thinking and talking about mental health in their communities.
What’s happening:
The Mixed Company Drama Group have performed many times in venues throughout East Glasgow, and even further a-field as part of the national Mental Health Arts and Film Festival.
They have also performed at various conferences and showcase events highlighting the strength of the arts, and in particular drama, in promoting awareness of mental health issues.
Every year the group substantially contribute to the annual HeadSpace event in October; East Glasgow’s exciting mental health arts festival.
