Brief description:
PMA are working with partners to explore how services can more effectively tackle inequalities in mental health. This strand of work is looking not only at the barriers that could deter people from accessing services in East Glasgow, but how provision can be designed better to promote equality.
Aims:
The project will enable commissioners, planners, staff, volunteers and practitioners to reflect on their work and consider what role services can play in tackling inequalities. It aims to have a direct impact on improving services and outcomes for people experiencing mental health problems.
What’s happening:
An action plan to develop an equalities strategy that involves staff and service users meaningfully contributing to a local strategy to address inequalities is underway. Workshops and sessions with mental health service providers, managers, voluntary organisations and people who access mental health services have already taken place.
Partners:
- Positive Mental Attitudes (PMA)
- East Glasgow CHCP Mental Health Services
- Glasgow Centre for Population Health
- Scottish Development Centre for Mental Health (Primary Care Mental
- Health Research and Development Programme)
