Interactive Theatre Workshops – Suicide Prevention

Brief description:

PMA is in the process of developing and delivering 4 exciting projects as part of a new suicide prevention partnership in collaboration with North Glasgow CHCP.

This ambitious project uses interactive theatre workshops as an alternative way to discuss suicide prevention within communities and increase confidence to seek help when they, a relative, friend, neighbour or colleague is experiencing an emotional crisis.

Aims:

The project aims to create more ‘suicide alert’ communities, giving people established techniques for finding out if someone is thinking about suicide and getting them help.

What’s happening:

This unique project will feature a series of interactive theatre workshops with professional arts workers to explore and discuss the issues around suicide prevention. The workshops will tour local venues and community organisations with a view to recruiting those willing to become community advocates.

Evaluation and feedback:

This work will be evaluated in partnership with Health Scotland, with a report available upon completion in 2011.

Partners:

  • Positive Mental Attitudes (PMA)
  • Platform (Glasgow East Arts Company)
  • NHS Health Scotland Choose Life
