Brief description:
PMA runs a thriving arts programme, raising awareness and challenging stigma in East Glasgow. Anyone can take part in the free arts sessions.
The creative writing group meet up weekly and put pen to paper, sharing thoughts, stories and ideas. The group often take part in spoken word events and invite well known writers along to share and discuss their work. The group now facilitates itself with support from PMA.
Aims:
To engage the local community through creative writing, getting people thinking, talking and writing about mental health.
What’s happening:
The groups are a safe and supportive environment for people to use creative writing as a vehicle for self expression, with PMA supporting the writing group to lead and develop their own activity.
The current group have produced anthologies of creative writing, performed at arts venues Platform and the Arches, plus livened up a few AGM’s with performance poetry!
The group also help to drive forward HeadSpace – East Glasgow’s contribution to the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival.
The group have created a welcome pack for anyone who is interested in joining and often share their work on facebook.
Special person, special as me
Energetic, footloose, fancy free
Nice or nasty, it all depends
Games of life never end
Always keep an open mind
Senga’s me, one of a kind.
